CHAPTER 02
Show the work moving
Swap in a short clip for the chapter that needs motion.
Video plays only while its chapter is in view, then pauses.
Show, do not tell
A chapter that describes the work is a caption. A chapter that plays the work is proof.
Put the artefact first and let the sentence underneath do the pointing.
Keep clips under ten seconds
Past ten seconds a loop reads as a video, and a video asks for a decision the reader did not agree to make.
Pin the media
Pinning keeps the evidence in view while the copy scrolls past it. The reader never loses the thing being explained.
Release the pin at the chapter boundary so the next artefact gets a clean entrance.
Pause when out of view
Anything that plays off screen is spending battery to be ignored. Pause it and resume on the way back.
Caption every step
One line per step. If a step needs three lines, it is two steps wearing a coat.
Captions are also the outline, which is why they belong in the heading structure.
End on the metric
Finish the sequence with the number that moved. Adjectives at the end undo the work the media just did.
